Waikiwi & Karamea by Naturally of NewZealand: New For Autumn/Winter 2010

I invite you to visit Stix and Stones in North Bay to view our two new yarn lines from Naturally of New Zealand: Waikiwi and Karamea!


Waikiwi and Karamea are spun and dyed at the Naturally mill in New Zealand and feature the unique composition of Merino Wool, Alpaca and Possum. The Possum Fibre lends a unique softness and creates a subtle halo effect once washed. Perfect for sensitive skin types and oh so warm for our northern climate!




Karamea is a Double Knitting (DK) weight yarn blend of 75% Merino 15% Alpaca 10% Possum.




Karamea is put up in 50 gram balls with 104m/114yards and works to a Gauge of 22 stitches x 30 rows.




The colour palette focuses on classic shades for accessories and garments with good stitch definition and drape.







Waikiwi is a finer 4 Ply Fingering Sock Yarn with the addition of Nylon to make it hard wearing and machine washable, perfect for gloves, socks and babies.




55% NZ Merino, 20% Nylon, 15% Alpaca, 10% Possum put up in a 50g ball with 181m/198yards.





The colours for Waikiwi include 7 solids and 5 Prints.

Misti Alpaca Yarns: New for Autumn/Winter 2010


I am happy to introduce the Misti Alpaca line of hand knitting yarns to Stix & Stones North Bay in the following qualities.

 Misti Alpaca Chunky Solids
2 Plies of 100% Baby Alpaca put up in a 109 yard Skein. Misti Chunky works up to a suggested gauge of 14 stitches per 10cm/4" using a 6mm / US#10 knitting needle.



Misti Alpaca Hand Paint Chunky
A colourful variation to the Chunky Solid line featuring the same 2 Plies of 100% Baby Alpaca put up in a 109 yard Skein, hand dyed to create beautiful colour variations.


Misti Hand Paint Chunky works up to a suggested gauge of 14 stitches per 10cm/4" using a 6mm / US#10 knitting needle. Colours range from brights to subtle tone-on-tones, perfect for home accessories.


Misti Alpaca Hand Paint Sock Yarn
A beautiful 4Ply Fingering Weight of 50% Superfine Alpaca, 30% Merino Wool and for strength Misti adds 10% Silk & 10% Nylon, making this perfect for socks, children and adult apparel. 


Misti Hand Paint Sock is put up in a 436 yard, 100 gram Skein and works to a suggested gauge of 28 sts per 10cm/4" using a needle 2.75mm /US #2. 


For knitting socks, if your knitting tension is average to loose, we would suggest size 2.5mm.
